All appointments for visa interviews at the U.S. Consulate General Kolkata, are made via the Internet at http://www.vfs-usa.co.in

Visa Processing:

Visas are returned to applicants by courier via our service provider - VFS(India) Pvt. Ltd. The average amount of time it takes to process a visa and return it to the applicant following an interview, after determination by the consular officer that the visa will be issued is three to four days.

All U.S. consular sections in India are working to ensure that appointment wait times are kept to a minimum. Persons anticipating traveling to the United States this summer are encouraged to apply early.

The consular section in Kolkata has set aside a small number of appointment slots for emergency applications involving humanitarian or medical emergencies, student's whose Form I-20 shows that they must report to school within the next two weeks and certain unforeseen business related emergencies. If you have a genuine emergency need to travel to the US you may inquire at 91 33 3984 2400. We regret we cannot make emergency appointments for weddings, graduations, to begin temporary employment in the United States or other foreseeable events.
